Why do I have to pay for 111 check to extend warranty

Wife's cayenne Diesel (Jan 12), Sub 20k miles, last serviced in June 2015, always under porsche warranty
Current warranty expires end of Jan - just been told that we cant renew unless we first pay £216 for 111 point check
...what's the purpose of the 111 check, if anything is broke then it's covered under the current warranty and if it has any non approved extras, then the new warranty doesn't cover it anyway ??
I was planning on selling it on, suddenly the decision to extend the warranty has become that much harder due to this extra £216 TAX
Anyone had any joy on getting the 111 check discounted (when not combined with a service) ??
Shall I just swallow the extra £1,000 (111 check and one year warranty) as it will be a lot easier to sell with the extra warranty cover on it ??

Basically it's a rip-off as you have discovered.
If any non-standard parts are fitted they will have to be removed before this check will pass.
I could understand it if the car didn't have warranty as they would be checking to ensure there are no existing issues they would have to pay for.
I got it free with a service but had to pay another time.

This.... And it was the OPC that sounds like your username OP. But the OP isn't having a service (but is expecting a free 111-point check!)

If you buy two years extended warranty you only have to pay for the inspection once (i.e.you don't have to fork out for another inspection at the end of year 1). It also works out cheaper pro rata on the annual cover as well. As mentioned if you take out the extended warranty at the same time as a service many dealers won't charge the full whack for the checks or may not charge at all.
Always thought the OPC Extended Warranty was a pretty good deal, and I also try to combine the 111 check with a service.
Never queried the need for the 111 check as I accept the Porsche and its underwriters want to keep the cars totally compliant, which hopefully keeps the premiums at a realistic level.
Extension to 15 years seems good news.

It's not business if your not paying for it. Please try and remember your local OPC is purely a facilitator for the warranty. Any premiums paid for the policy go directly to Germany. The 111 takes roughly 2 hours @ £180+ vat (already discounted rate as most centres will be running at £130+vat or more.
The Technician will need to ensure your vehicle meets the criteria set by Porsche. If it doesn't any they apply a warranty guess who's paying all the future warranty claims.. It certainly won't be Germany.
That you haven't got incorrect tyres or spurious electrical components fitted. The list goes on.
If you have a good relationship with your centre they may discount the check for you. As previously stated it is usually done FOC with a service anyway.
Don't forget as with any Main dealer you are paying for that fancy building, the coffee you drink, the biscuits you eat, that lovely new loan car you drive whilst the check is being done, the one that you don't have to insure yourself. The wash and vacuum your car gets, the free top up of screen wash or oil your car gets without you even noticing by the guy whos training cost thousands.The service advisors time in becoming FCA accredited. The development of future cars, the technology... Etc etc . The list goes on.
