My partners Vintage (60's) Cartier ladies tank watch needs a new leather strap. The strap looks original as it has the Cartier buckle, the Cartier website advises to take the watch to a Cartier dealer for replacement but I was wondering if an independant could supply and fit?

There's a great french brand (sorry cant remember the name) opposite Burlington arcade on Picadilly in London. They have a huge range of straps and make custom as well. Basically thats all they do, just watch straps. They start from £70ish i think, so quite reasonable. When i went to Jaeger LeCoultre to enquire about new strap, the sales guy actually sent me there. Hope that helps!

Btw, for comparison, a new JLC strap was £300 and if made to order from leather that's not in stock ...another £100 on top.

Also, bear in mind that the original buckle can always be swapped to the new strap if the widths are right.

Pretty sure you're talking about Jean Rousseau straps. Great quality straps
