Celica Gen 6 GT rolling Restoration

Hi all, let me introduce Blanche, the Neglected White Celica GT. Taken in px against my lat Celica, a track modified TSport. This white GT was supposed to just be sold on. However I have fallen for the old thing. She only Has MOT till end of February, and has suffered from a very badly DIY trained boy or Girl Racer. First days work included ripping out yards and yards of dodgy stereo and lighting cables, getting rid of the small lake in the boot well, securing the battery and a decent wash.

Work to be done includes replacement shocks and springs, New droplinks and ball joints. New inner and outer cv joints. Full service, New tires, fill wheel refurb. Welding in rear corner, New paint work front and rear, tlc to interior etc

I have a lot of spares already from the last ten years of owning, modifying and running Celicas, so this one should be a fun build.

Car owes me £500, so not a bad deal. I have budgeted up to 2k to get her to the standard and condition I want.

Excellent. I had one of these several years ago. Car was a lemon of the highest level but I was young and have some fond memories of it.

170-odd bhp in that car should be good. Any plans of stripping/modifying it with better parts or are you just trying to get it back to it's original condition?

Cheers. Plans are just to improve without going too extreme. Koni adj front shocks, kyb adj rears, Eibach springs to replace the worn stock shocks and cheap eBay springs on at present. Car has a stainless poweflow cat back exhaust on it, which needs a bit of attention, but should be okay. Audi TT front disc conversion will beef up the stock stoppers. Few other bits too, but nothing too mad.

This looks like an interesting thread looking forward to seeing how well the car turns out. It made me laugh when you wrote about the yards of dodgy wiring you had to pull out, I had the same thing with my corolla when i bought it. There was a very questionable sub install in the boot which use to crash about like there was a bull in the back during any spirited driving. That come straight out but then had to deal with the wiring not fun at all!

She has a later facelift front on her, which I like.

I always thought that these would look better and more TVR-esque with the inner lights removed and bonnet/bumper flushed.

The side profile and rear looks bang on for a car of this era but the front lights in ST202 mode don't look as good as the ST205.

The Curren was the best looking front end.

I can't be the only one?
