Santa was very kind and bought me a Nikon Speedlight SB-700, as well as a Neewer FC-16 remote kit.

The Neewer unit works either as a remote shutter release, or as a remote for the flash.

I can get the remote shutter working no problem, but the flash remote isn't really working for me. The two Neewer units are synced, and I can fire the flash by pressing the shutter release but on the remote unit (which is on the camera in flash remote mode), but the flash never fires when I use the camera.

The manual is a little sketchy - do I need to set the flash into M (manual) mode, or can I leave it on TTL like I'd have it on the camera?

Camera is a D3100 which should be compatible.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply, but they seem to be mostly discussing Nikon's own remote solution, rather than the Neewer set I have.

Need to sit down quietly and read the manuals I suspect...!

I'm not familiar with the Neewer triggers but I used something similar once and they required the remote flash to be set manually.

Thanks! I had another play around this morning and you're right - flash needs to be set manually to fire off the triggers.
