Hi, anyone here know anything about odometers? Mine has just stuck on 56999, and although the speedo is working fine, the odometer will not move. Am not in a great hurray to fix, as it allows me more miles on my insurance policy any ideas?

Thanks Ian

When I had the Tiv mine was the same and never "got better".
Previous threads have said (a)it will suddenly change on its own. (b)give the face of the dial a sharp knock, being careful not to break the glass !(c) if all else fails remove the gauge and send it away for repair, costs I believe around the £70 mark to fix it.
Regarding the Insurance, don't forget to make a note of what mileage you do (gallons x approx mpg), one year I forgot and when I filled in the Insurance form they told me my mileage had gone backwards from the previous year - embarrassing to explain !!
(Its also fairer to keep a record if you decide to sell the car on)

Thanks John,

Will try bashing it tommorow! Always worked before with the idea 'if in doubt, give it a clout!' Am not trying to deceieve any buyers, as I am keeping record of fuel bills (just to depress myself) anyway, I would rather buy a higher mileage car, that was used on a regualar basis than one that does 150 miles per year, usually less problems????

Mine went through a period of doing this for about six months.

Stopping and starting, which was quite useful in insurance terms at the time as I was commuting 150 miles a day, eventualy sorted itself out.

Ditto Clives note.
Mine stuck at 100,000 for a couple of hundred miles, but then jumped back to life and fine since.
