One of my key fobs is getting hard to operate.

The button press to turn off the immobiliser is not behaving - need to press quite hard to get it to work, and then it's intermittent.

Looking at the circuit board I'm not quite sure if the bit of rubber that slots into the switch just makes a connection between 2 solder contacts, or actually depresses a microswitch.

If it's just a question of cleaning the contacts then I'll sort it myself.

If it needs replacing does anyone know if Carl the Meta man still supplies them? I have the original code tabs.

Ta.

As Mike says, Dave at HF solutions can do you a replacement blank key with an electronic fob. Programmed to work with your existing alarm code. You just have to get the key cut.

The new fob doesn't match the TVR original.

If the electronics in your existing fob are okay then you can buy a new original TVR fob blank key from TVR Car Parts and put your electronics into it.

Usually one of the support legs for the PCB in the key fob breaks off. So you have to press the plip bit in further.

Thanks.

There isn't any damage inside the unit.

It's just the rubber contact that isn't doing its thing very well.

May get the alcohol wipes out.

Okay.

As I said you can get the outer plastic shell for the existing key. But Dave said that he can no longer get the PCB's for them. Hence he has obtained a new fob and PCB set to replace your original one.

That would need the code from your red card in the handbook. Anyway Dave is really helpful. On my Tamora the red card code didn't work so he re-programmed the whole module, the existing key and one of his new ones. I also got a new immobiliser plug in fob thing from him. Top guy.

Fixed it by replacing the green rubber plug that presses onto the microswitch with a firmer piece cut from a wine bottle plastic 'cork'.

Works 100% now.

Nice not to have to stand infront of the car for 15 mins at the petrol station trying to look cool while the doors won't unlock.

Cue much 'TVR broken mate' comments.

ROFL etc.

Am I right in saying that the key itself isn't coded in anyway?
So if I get a blank with new casing, I just need it cut and put the old green circuit board inside?

Went in Saturday to inquire and was told I'd need key coded bit told him I did think that was the case

Yes, the 'coding' is in the PCB inside the key. New blank key outer from TV Parts, cut for the car with existing PCB swapped over will do it.
