Service bonnet release cable
Discussion
A simple job you may think but how do you replace the cable to the service bonnet?
Mine snapped after a nice December drive in the sunshine. I have the main bonnet off the car but the mechanism that holds the catch is bonded on. I cannot see an easy way to remove the sliding spiggot to fit the new cable ball end.
Has anyone done this job that could enlighted me?
Thanks
Steve

The black plastic end of the locking just pulls out with a bit of wiggling.
You can then get the old cable out with the ball end bit on it.
I used a bike brake cable inner as a replacement when mine went (I had one lying around the garage already) but I had to file the ball end bit to fit. It only took a couple of minutes.
Just be careful when doing the clamp screw up as the metal is soft.
