Taking the BTR diff apart

Has anyone done this? I have made a tool to turn those big dials, but not sure if its CW or CCW!

They should both be normal r/h thread [so counter clockwise to remove] I haven't actually done a BTR from a TVR but have done a few BTR,s from the Aussie V8 commodore,s which are just a slightly bigger series of diff and they are definitely r/h thread.

My 'puny' 229hp seemed to do fine with mine ... 90mph at 3,000rpm and still saw 164 on the GPS (with admittedly very little more to give).

I have a higher ratio one to drop into mine as I bought a spare dif as mine has a bit of slack in it but not really sure what to do - probably have time to get mine rebuilt before mine's back on the road again!

I`m not enjoying the 3.45, I had the GKN diff which seemed better.

What ratio do you have ?

Given that I'm doing 3,000rpm at a (GPS indicated) 90 then I'm *PRESUMING* that mine's a 3.08:1 ... I bought Alex's old diff (so that I could swap it over without taking mine off the road) which is almost certainly the higher ratio version.

That would be the GKN 3.31

That would be the GKN 3.31

Oh yeah - mine is a GKN - I missed the BTR bit ...

BTR come in 3.08 3.23 3.45.
