Hi guys

I'm after a clone/knock off STAR system to help maintain my S600.

From my limited research, I'm gathering that there are two main types of multiplexer, the wired C3 and the bluetooth C4 multiplexers. You then need a laptop to run the mutiplexer, either a standard laptop with a serial port via a virtual machine, or a IBM T30 or Dell D630 Laptop like the ones they original used in workshops and simply fit a HDD pre loaded with all

Does this all sound vaguely right?

So am I right in thinking the following, plus a £60 Dell D630 is all I'm going to be need?

I know there will be some degree of tweaking, but I'd like to get the hardware ordered ASAP.

Cheers.

Someone on the 1-5 barge thread mentioned they had a Star clone, and linked to this supplier when I asked for details:

http://www.obdsvs.com//

I have yet to buy anything, so cannot advise, but may be better to ask on that thread given the large number of Mercs which use Star represented there.

That was probably me. If not I bought mine from the site mentioned and have been happy with it.

Mine is the wired type running from the Dell 630 laptop, these days I would think a wireless one would be a better bet as the cables are quite cumbersome.
