SLK number plate light

One of my number plate lights failed and after checking the lamp which is fine I looked at the fuse list and it says that it is electronic, I'm guessing that this is so the system will then display on the dashboard that you have an important lamp not working, what and where do I go to rectify this.

Could be the loom which has a fairly torturous route up and round the boot lid scissor arms. Prone to splitting and failing. The number plate wires are in that loom bundle.

if unsure id say any competent auto electrician, on the recommendation of a good MB indy.

It may be worth taking the bulb out, cleaning up the holder contacts to remove any corrosion or muck, and either cleaning up or replacing the bulb - we had the same issue with our S211, the bulb had not failed but the system was reporting a fault, but this procedure cured it.
