I will be over the next 2 years be spending ~60% of my time working on a small island off the east coast of Africa that is also due south of the UAE. The island is very hilly and suffers from plenty of rain, so all is not a bed of roses.....
Now I don't want to be transporting my bike backwards and forwards on a plane every time I go "home". The mark-up on bikes in Dubai is ridiculous and so I am thinking of ordering a bike from the UK and getting it sent to me.
I have been pointed in the direction of Slane Cycles and Wiggle as they knock the VAT off as they would be shipping outside of UK/EU.
I will need to balance bike cost + shipping (import duty is 5% so not a big issue). For example Slane do free shipping.
Budget is ~GBP 700 (bike+shipping). So which bikes should I consider and any other shops to investigate?
