Guys as part of getting the chim done and back on the road I was going to replace the hood and recover the targa,does anyone have experience of online hood suppliers,quality,fit etc. ideally I want to fit it at home as the logistics of transport to someone will be a pain.
I'm not sure what sort of job it's likely to be or if it would be better to try and get a fitter to do it at my address,any thoughts?

Richard - I'm looking for the same thing wanting to take the hood somewhere to be recovered, if this can be done am more than happy to organise the logistics of yours as well.
My car is at the paint shop but have the hood and all the other bits removed and in my garage. Ideally would like to take the hood only to be recovered but have been told that the fitter wants the car complete to do a proper job, have been quoted +£900.00 for this which seems a bit steep.
Am very competent DIY guy so advice appreciated as to best option, 1-take the car to a fitter, 2-take the hood only to a fitter (so car and hood come together finished) or 3-recover it myself with a kit and save some money along the way (how hard can it be?)

You can find a link for recovering the targa in this post http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=111... .I bought my hood kit from All Hoods Ltd and it came marked up for fitting. The window section cannot be fixed off the car.The hood needs to fixed to the rear hoop and stretched to the right position then the hoop fitted back on the car. With the hood frame in the up position the hood can be stretched and glued to the marks.The job is not beyond a competent DIY'er but two pairs of hands will make it easier.
Sorry posted a bit about this on my other thread looks like there are various qualities of hood but I have gone for mohair and the little research I've done today puts a hood by bas international in the frame.

I'm a competent person but on something like this I would much rather pay to have it done by an experienced guy, it's something that's right in your face and for all to see,get it a bit wrong and I would never be happy,if a professional does it and it's not up to standard then you can chase them till it's perfect plus any issues a bit down the line and hopefully they would support it
The company were looking at about a week lead in time as the hood is in stock

Andy. I took mine to Jack Smith trimmers in Swansea. I think he has changed the name of the company now. May be called Pugh now. It is the same person doing the work and I had my hood and targa replaced by him for £280 cash.
