I'm tempted by this as well but like you put off a bit by the price tag. Been meaning to check out some videos of it on YouTube, that's probably the best way to figure out if its any good or not.
EDIT: Having watched a video of it, it does look like it could be fun, a bit of a cross between ARMA and Battlefield whilst maintaining an emphasis on realism, but I think you'd need to be with a group of people to enjoy it fully. Teamwork appears to be key, so wandering off on your own is just a waste of time.

I bought this yesterday and had a quick hour on and it is quite addictive. Everyone on the mic makes it immersive. I actually managed to kill someone! haha.

I've got about 230 hours in it so far and I'm still chuffed if I manage to get more than 2 kills.Steam user Name: Turbo_nut
I usually medic, so I've got an excuse for a normally 0/11 K/D.
(Although the excuse is because I'm a s
t shot.)Jon_Bmw said:
I was camping (read hiding/scared as I had got split from my squad) and he appeared in front of me. I still nearly missed killing him!
xRIEx - add me on steam if you want.
It's not "camping", it's "holding the objective" (whether it's actually an objective is beside the point, the cupboard has huge tactical value damnit!) - yeah, I do that too.xRIEx - add me on steam if you want.

Am tempted, but having just fired up Arma 3 for the first time in a good many months, I forgot how brilliant it was, so much additional content to get through.
This will be a definite purchase though, looks excellent in the vids and like arma on a small scale as that does have issues with such a vast playing area.

I killed a few more last night. I found an enemy rally point after splitting up from my squad and sat there killing about 4. I ran out of bullets in the mag as someone spawned on top of me. I tried swapping to my auxiliary weapon but that didn't work for some reason. This guy just looked at me for about 5 seconds whilst I reloaded, he must have been not entirely sure why a friendly name didn't appear I guess. I promptly shot him. Haha.
It is addictive, but you do need a good squad leader. In another game I had one who just seem to lead us from one disaster to the next. (I would not be a good squad leader!!).
My biggest problem is picking out enemy that are at a medium distance. I just can't see them, despite being next to a teammate who is firing away merrily. I didn't think my eyesight was that bad. I am starting to get used to the way everything works. Having two medics in the squad is vital it appears.

A lot of the kits don't have a sidearm, I think it's possibly only medic, marksman and squad leader that do (depending on team, terrorists and militia have different kits).
A good squad leader makes a massive difference to how fun a match is; if they coordinate the squad properly you feel like you're moving with a purpose.
I know what you mean about eyesight, I have trouble spotting without a decent scope.

Just getting back into this as they have upgraded it a few times. I always think I might have enjoyed the army life. This is the no risk version!
Having a good squad and a good team makes for some really good fun. I can normally kill about 6 people in a round now. Wow, what progress!!

Recently fired up Steam again and saw ARMA3 still ever present in my games list... shame my current laptop isn't good enough for a solid experience
I absolutely love it.
Squad looks good. I've been watching some youtube videos but I think I'll wait until it drops in price before buying it.

Picked this up yesterday as a couple of my friends play it and it is very different to anything I've played. I've played arcadey stuff like CoD and BF in the past - this requires teamwork and patience. I managed to kill 2 people (2!) over the course of my first game to 13 deaths. Not great. It's very difficult to see who you're actually shooting at, and indeed if they are even the enemy and not just another friendly squad.
As was mentioned before, it also difficult to spot people. I play at 4k res and it's still a job to pick people out! Very fun though. The sound mechanics are great with time delayed explosions/gunfire if at a distance and rounds whizzing overhead. It makes it very immersive. I'm hoping to improve a little as I think it could become very frustrating and tiresome otherwise.
Is anyone else playing this?

I play occasionally, although not for a while. Great game but damn hard to get kills, for me at least
Also Im not that fond of talking to random nutters on the internet
That is something that put me off getting this game for a long time, and now Post-Scriptum too. I'm quite happy to text chat, but talking I'm not so sure. I'll see how I feel as time goes on. Also Im not that fond of talking to random nutters on the internet
