Logitech G29 Wheel - Great offer at PC World!!!
Discussion
Been thinking about getting a wheel recently as Project Cars is not very well optimised for pads at all. Had settled on either a Thrustmaster T300 or a Logitech G29. Browsing today and my choice was made for me - the G29 is at least £250 in most places and even more expensive in others, approaching £300. PC World are currently selling it for £159! Literally a steal considering the build quality. Get involved!

Ha I was looking at these, have you got it yet? Let me know thoughts...
still in the post unfortunately
£140.38 delivered via flubit when you give them the amazon link.
i haven't got room for a permanent set up so this looked the best value given you can spend more on just a frame.
I'll definitely post up with my thoughts once its come and I've used it. video reviews on youtube are promising though
Cheers, it looks decent to be fair, so would be keen to hear your thoughts. At the very least it will be more adequate than clamping to a shabby chic coffee table and having to sit on my daughters chair!
Other than the dodgy setup, I played PCars last night and it was awesome with the wheel. Will take some getting used to as I have always played with a pad, but initial impressions are that it is epic as far as driving feel is concerned, need to play around with the FFB settings though as it's way too overkill

The Challenge is excellent. I've had mine for six months now, absolutely solid when you're sitting in it and very comfortable - I use mine as my all round gaming chair now and had several marathon sessions in it.The G29 on the other hand is a bit of a con. It's a reskinned G27 - the T300RS is far, far better.

In terms of the wheel, I have read that the T300 is great if you plan to upgrade the pedals etc, but the pedals on the G29 are meant to be a lot better and people have been complaining about stuff breaking on the thrustmaster wheels. Initial impressions are that the pedals are very good ( have read they are a big step up from the G27 pedals), the brake operates / feels near enough real. While it's on offer for under 160 beans, nothing else competes in that price range so I'm happy enough!
Thanks for putting this here, was looking at the Xbox One version wishing I could afford it a few days ago. So now I've ordered it!
I'll have to get rid of my old Driving Force GT now, haven't used it for ages though. It's such a shame they can't make all wheels work with all consoles! I suspect this new one is streets ahead in every way anyhow.
Gonna have to look at getting a Playseat too.

Glad to have helped! I put in an hour or so on project cars tonight, brands gp with the formula c. It was literally epic, haven't had this much fun playing a game in years. The way you can feel what the car is doing is awesome, managed to get some good laps in to boot
The Mrs has just ordered the playseat challenge for my birthday, can't wait for delivery! Slightly geeky but screw it, it will be immense

After a few sessions on PS3's Grid Autosport over the festive season I think I'm about to take the plunge myself. The G29 looks like a no brainier but would welcome any seat recommendations. Playseat - tell me more....
http://www.playseatstore.co.ukI bought the Challenge, as i don't have oodles of space to permanently have a cobra bucket out! http://www.playseatstore.co.uk/playseatr-challenge...
Well worth the money, very comfortable and doesn't rock back when i press the brake like i did on my office chair!
All up, the G29 and Playseat cost £300.
I picked up a G920 for the Xbox this afternoon from the local branch of Currys. First impressions are that it's beautifully made. The pedal box alone has a really satisfying heft and stays in place reasonably well on a slippery wooden floor, and there's a retractable carpet gripper built into the underside.
I don't have a wheel stand yet, but it works very well attached to an ironing board! Force feedback is good, and having tweaked a few settings to compensate a little for the rock-hard (but realistic-feeling) brake pedal, it works well.
Every degree of rotation of the wheel has an effect in Forza 6, unlike my previous wheel (the shonky MS own-brand Xbox 360 wheel). It's worth talking about the brake pedal in particular, because it's come in for lots of criticism online. It's certainly stiff – Logitech aimed to give it a non-linear response like a real car's middle pedal. I've changed the setting in Forza to use the top 60% of the pedal's travel to give full braking, but even setup like that I'm rarely hitting 100% braking force. This has resulted in a greater ability to trail the brakes in the game, and you can really build up the braking force on corner entry rather than going to full power in 0.01 seconds. If you leave the brakes as standard you'll find yourself getting a proper leg workout!
It's quiet and smooth in operation too, and you can change the degrees of rotation used in Forza – I settled on 360 degrees to make it easier to catch slides. It's put a huge smile on my face several times as I nip around competitors and judge the acceleration and braking forces better than I could ever with a pad.
Overall, I'm very impressed with how nicely it works with Forza and also the build quality! Would definitely recommend it for £160.

Mine (G29) arrived today and I've briefly tested it in Assetto Corsa, Project Cars and Dirt Rally. I can only echo the comments about the build quality, it does seem very well made and is really comfortable to use. The noise is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be either.
In Project Cars and Assetto Corsa it worked beautifully (although the pedals need inverting in the options for the latter). Within a few minutes I was stringing together fairly consistent laps. In Dirt Rally it seems decent but you do notice not having an easily accessible handbrake (using a button on the wheel is a bit awkward). The force feedback also didn't seem as good in Dirt Rally but it's still a huge improvement over what I was using. Finishing a stage without ending up in the trees is still a challenge
Very impressed so far even if the brake pedal needs more force than the one in my actual car! Had to tone back the brake saturation quite a bit but it does feel great compared to wheels I've used in the past.

Seems good value at £160 - they are going for more 2nd hand on ebay!
