Forming/joining a band.

Seems so simple, and yet I am failing at the first hurdle.
I've been playing guitar for a while now, but as a hobbyist/bedroom warrior , and would really like to get something together with some others. Just Jamming/covers etc, open mic stuff. Unfortunately, within my friend group we have about 8 guitarists, but no drummers, competent bassists, singers etc, and there isn't much interest.
What would you say is the best way to seek people out? Jam sessions at my local pub are very good musically, but the players are in a bit of a clique.

You could try over at The Fretboard classifieds for a start, http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/categories/personnel. There'll be plenty of forums available, Facebook and the like have social groups for such things too. Not sure the days of wanted ads in music shops are still with us as most of the music related shops that had such pinboards are no longer around in our area 
Yes, I had noticed... Love to be a decent drummer, but practicality of space. not to mention 12 years of guitar practice slightly wasted 
Thanks for the link above, looks really helpful. As a side point, I was in my local music shop today, looking at the notice board. Lots of guitarists seeking, but that is kind of a given, as its predominantly a guitar shop.

go to some local gigs, speak to some people there/even better speak to some of the people in the bands playing an they will either know of people to ask or might be up for something themselves.
If you are trying to attract drummers to jam with you have some stuff recorded to give to them to entice them possibly, but at this stage just playing with anyone is probably the goal.
