couple of questions for those with more knowledge...

first I have a 99 Boxster S - recently had MO30 suspension fitted.. overall its better but the car does not sit as low as I wanted.
I was reading on some US sites of people pairing H/R springs to the MO30 and it seems to work well.. any one done this or got any thoughts?

Second... has anyone tried Ferodo DS2500s on BoxS brakes? - Im thinking about swapping them as I want to do a few trackdays (not looking to make this a racing car)

Finally I hate the seats...

what is the general consensus on the seats from Design 911?

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt67_67_497_-cma81-c...

these look nice and light and look like porsche seats..

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt67_67_1505_-cma81-...

or are recaros better?

thanks for the help

Are you me?

I've just bought some Ferodo 2500 pads, braided hoses, H&R springs and am looking for some better seats.
Having had a few race cars over the years I'd advise against full nomex recaros as they do wear quite quickly and can look quite scruffy.
The design 911 leather buckets are on my list as they should fit snugly, get me lower in the car, wear better and look more 'Porsche'.

Let me know how you get on.

I'm not a fan of DS2500 tbh. I've found the stock pagid pads to stand up very well and that included 8 laps of Silverstone GP circuit. I swapped my brake fluid out to Motul 600, fitted braided lines and 997 GT3 front cooling ducts and find this works well.

If you are determined to change your pads, either go for something top end such as Performance Friction, or less costly but better than Ferodo imo are Mintex 171.

The problem isn't so much the use of bucket seats its the use of 4 to 6 point harnesses and what then happens either in a frontal crash or rollover. Both of these are the reasons why we need to have a fully MSA or FIA compliant ROPS and HANS to race these days. Recaro Pole Position ABE with the standard 3 point belt will be no less safe than standard seating, if one wants to be held in a bit more tightly still they could add a CG lock onto the 3 point belt to hold the lap part tight. Also keep the Airbarg steering wheel because it works in unison with the 3 point belt in a crash.

You honestly think an FIA approved race seat is going to sheer off the 4 bolts mounting it to the side mounts? or are you concerned about the side mount bolts to the floor? If the second the proper race car prep way to do it is to drill through the original bolt holes through the floor under the car then back long bolts from under the car with big couple of inch wide washers. Using the original mountings as is and bolts shouldn't be any less safe than standard but I did pull one of them out in my race car before doing the above mentioned process.

They're a bit dirty but no more so than some other brands of track pads I've used. Quite prone to squealing though when they are not being used hard.

Fair point, it always amazes that people think they can do this sort of stuff on the cheap.

I used the Design 911 fitting kit when I used my 986 for a few trackdays (seat from my track car..)

A decent seat makes a massive difference on trackdays. I thought it also gave the car much more of a "sports car" feel on the road, giving you a decent connection with the car. Fairly harsh on Uk roads at low speeds though (with new m030 suspension).

OE Textar pads are actually pretty good. I fitted the GT3 ducts, which cost pennies. FWIW I've been trying the PFC 08 pads in my 944 & they seem a lot less dusty than the 97's.

It's as low as you can get in a Boxster (i.e. not very..) I'm 5'10" and just about fit with a helmet on.

Textar pads from lots of places - maybe try Frazerpart or partsforporsche (Berlyn) first?
