Can anyone offer any advice please?

I had my 'S' out for a bit of run about earlier in the week and on a couple of occasions I thought that it was a bit tough getting a gear, but then dismissed it as being my imagination.

Anyway, not a bad morning today so thought I would give it another run out, but .....

The clutch pedal felt strange in that there was no pressure until almost the end of the pedal travel and I could not get reverse gear at all.

My immediate thought was air in the system. Any body else experienced the same thing?

I didn't investigate any further today, just locked up the garage and left it.

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Does sound like fluid loss - have you checked the level in the reservoir?

Cheers Mick, yes checked the reservoir today and the fluid level seemed okay.

If you're absolutely sure you're not losing fluid somewhere, then check the clutch actuating lever on the side of the bell housing. The rod from the slave cylinder can wear through the dished "socket" it sits in on the actuating arm. There were quite a few posts on this little problem a few years back, but good luck finding them.

On my clutch arm, the spigot slipped into the smaller hole, this made the clutch bite low on the pedal. I realigned the spigot into the correct hole and put a small nut and bolt into the other.

How old is the fluid? It might have air in it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not sure how old the fluid is - I've not had the car a year yet - it still looks a nice clear colour.

I need to get underneath it and have a good look, but it's been a bit too wet to be crawling around on the floor outside and unfortunately my garage isn't big enough to work on the car when it's in there frown
