Help Audi Hunters - 4.2 A8 Wanted

Hi all,

I've been looking for a D3 4.2 petrol A8 and there are slim pickings out there. Top end budget is about £9K. Might stretch a little further for a really good one.

I want a facelift model so post 2006. Not too bothered on colour or extras. Prefer the darker wood inlays but again not fussy. Around 80K miles.

Nothing in the classifieds here. There were a couple on AT but two were lemons and the other sold before I got there (still on AT, the sliver one at £8.5K).

Would have to be a dealer as I want to chop my A6 in. Really can't be bothered with trying to sell it privately and still need the car for work so don't want to sell without finding another.

Anybody know of any on the grapevine, or suggestions of where else to look?

I don't know of any suitable cars but thought you should know that the facelift was in 2008. IIRC 2006 was the grill change.

You can tell if it's a facelift if it has square front fogs and indicators in the wing mirrors. If you're doing big mileage then it's worth holding out for a facelift as they significantly improved the sound deadening.

There are a few 57 plate facelifts (I have one) but most are 08 onwards.

Good luck with the purchase - they are awesome cars, I really love driving mine even if it is a TDI.

Ah ok, I meant grill change then. Think a 08 plate will be out of budget unless higher mileage. Won't be doing big miles, which is why i'm going for the petrol

This is fking impossible. I upped my budget to £13K, saw a lovely black facelift model on AT, phone and its been sold.

Anything decent seems to go immediately and all is left is a load of old cars or high mileage and lemons.
