Evo VII Extreme S
Discussion
Evening all,
Whilst there isn't a huge amount of love for Evo's on PH, I thought some might appreciate a few pics of my latest Evo. There is a thread already on the MLR about it which is updated as and when I do anything to the car so will aim to update this alongside.
A bit of history on the car itself. It is one of the original Ralliart UK/Extreme demo cars when the Evo VII first came out. It's a GSR and was one of the first 7's to be imported into the country. It was then upgraded by Extreme to Extreme S spec and used as their demo car. The car has loads of Ralliart bits including carbon dash inserts, carbon gear stick surround, strut brace, master cylinder stopper, expansion tank, power steering reservoir, radiator mounts and bushes all round. It's also got a 2.3l stroker (one of the first in the country to be built apparently), hybrid Turbo Dynamics turbo, Motec M800 ECU, proper anti lag system, APS intercooler and 3.5" APS exhaust, adjustable coilovers, AP brakes all round and 18" Team Dynamics Visage wheels.

I found the car in a shed in St Ouen, Jersey where it had been locked away since 2009. The previous owner bought it off Extreme back in 2002 and had owned the car from new so it's a genuine one owner, one trader car and has only covered 31k miles from new. There isn't a spot of rust on it anywhere but does have some minor bodywork damage that needs sorting out (car park dings and a dent in the N/S rear rear quarter). Other than that it needs a serious service so all of the fluids, belts, aux pulleys etc will be replaced shortly. Another few issues are the battery tray needs replacing and the hardpipes need polishing as they have become pitted. The wheels are also badly kerbed so they'll be coming off and sent over to Lepsons. Finally the turbo will be sent off to be reconditioned and possibly upgraded to a ceramic ball bearing unit as its relatively old tech considering what's available these days.
Forgot to mention, it's currently running around 485bhp.

Cheers chaps.
She does go well and it's obvious it's been built with driveability in mind rather than all out power.
This is my fifth Evo now and it's about the perfect balance for me. Decent power with little lag and the usual creature comforts instead of being stripped and caged like my last car!
I've got to find a decent double din touch screen to replace the existing MMCS as its all in Japanese and can't be changed to English. Weirdly it will only go up to 90FM so it's rather limiting on radio stations and you can't connect your smartphone to it.

Thanks for the comments all.
The car is a standard GSR with full interior so would be somewhere around the 1400kgs mark. Like all Evo's, it feels very nimble and light on its feet. The AYC is both a blessing and a curse in my opinion and I'm in two minds whether to swap it out for an RS rear diff but retain the ACD. There's a few guys that can map the ACD ECU these days and it completely transforms the car so I'll be looking at getting this done later in the year.
I bought the car with the intention of doing track days and European road trips. As we are so close to St Malo (one hour boat trip) so will be going to Loheac, Nantes and possibly Le Mans. Prior to this I had a fully stripped and caged 700bhp Evo 6 RS that I did local MSA hill climbs and sprints in but I got bored having to trailer it everywhere and didn't enjoy driving it on the road hence it getting sold.

Regarding the colour scheme, I realise it isn't to everyone's taste but this is the original colour scheme it left Extreme with and I have absolutely no intention to change it. I didn't actually like it when I first bought the car and was going to change the front and rear bumpers to Evo 9 items but it's grown on me quite a bit now and I'll be keeping it as it is (with the addition of plenty of carbon obviously!)
