Similar situation - no dashcam. It would not have seen the incident fully anyway. I was travelling clockwise on M25 near Reigate on New Year's Day at mid to late afternoon in my Z3. It was getting dark and the traffic was moderate (light by M25 standards) with very few lorries but lots of cars. I was on cruise at a GPS 70 mph in lane 3 out of 4. On my right and to the rear was a large white car (Audi I think) gaining on me by about five to ten mph, and on my left in lane two another car (unknown make) travelling some five to ten mph slower than I was. So far, so normal on M25 with all its gantry cameras causing little speed differential across the outmost three lanes. There was nothing ahead of the lane two car for some distance and indeed not a lot immediately ahead of me because the braking distance at that speed dictates a good headway to the car ahead. As I drew alongside the car to my left he suddenly and unneccessarily started to change lane towards my nearside. This was no lane drift; this was a deliberate lane-change manoeuvre and had I not taken evasive action he would have barged me across to lane four where the Audi was now approaching alongside. Instinctively I swung the wheel quickly through about 90 degrees right and then instantly back sufficiently to regain the course in the lane in order to move the car at least half a vehicle's width towards, but not into the path of, the car in lane four. He (the Audi) must have lost control of his bowels when he saw what was apparently a small two-seater diving across his path and then, equally suddenly stopping the swerve! Doing this in many cars on a damp concrete road surface at 70mph would almost certainly have resulted in a total loss of directional control, but in the Z, thanks to DSC, it did exactly what was asked of it with no more than a couple of flashes of the yellow DSC light on the dash! I am so glad I took the Z yesterday and not my Jag X Type - that has traction control and ABS but no stability control. What's more it's a bit of a heavy lump and would have been unlikely to be as nimble as the Z anyway.

Over the years I have driven in excess of a million miles and can honestly say that I have never had such a stupid driver threaten my safety.

Wow your situation was extremely dangerous, too. Thanks to modern electronics it's relatively safe to drive at high speed. But sort of "blackouts" by other road users always can happen...

If only there was a huge thread where sh*t driving caught on dashcam could be discussed... Oh, yeah... it's over here

Showing videos there is all right. Discussing them annoys some people, it seems.

how does the audi do great avoiding a big accident?
he touches the brakes when he see the guy looking to move over
then say fk it i'm going past anyway, then brakes when he's along side him

i did think it was quite dangerous at 140 odd then realised it was km, so 90ish and fairly ordinary occurrence

Looked like kph to me from both the speedo and the appearance of the video - and it is in a LHD country.

Yes that is what i though, but checked again, it says km/h in the middle of the speedo, but the outer numbers must be mph, strange really because it does not actually look like they are going that fast, everything they pass must be doing 100+

In the video you can see the uk speedo so it was a high speed incident at fairly 150mph/240kph. Acoording to the road signs it's a german autobahn where nearly everyone does >100, most cars even much faster...
And now search youtube for similar situations even at lower speeds. Things go wrong very often. A bit too hectic movement of the steering wheel and its over...

Simply count the street posts passing by and you will see the situation is much faster than 90mph...

What sort of idiot switches off DSC on the Autobahn? The BMW wasn't leaving a large enough gap for most of the video. Anyone used to driving fast on the Autobahn will know to watch out for people like that Opel driver.

Don't worry. It's just a RaceRender Overlay which presents the driving data transferred via OBD2-port. The state of the DSC is not part of the OBD2-output. THE "DSC off" is just a dummy...

Storming the Bhan's is fraught with danger but that's no surprise really. Most cars certainly don't do over 100 on them, in fact, you are lucky to do over 40 on most of them at the minute but when you do get a chance to stretch the legs you have to watch out for the easterns mostly. On a clear 170 run a truck pulled out causing mucho 5p, 50p, 10p, 50p actions. At 190 you have to be absolutely aware of potential issues (ignoring anything going awry with the car you are driving as at those speeds its game over). None of this really is of a surprise just wanted to say I've done a few 190 runs but my balls didn't let me get any closer to 200.

At anything wider than 50mm or more zoomed than 50mm on the camera you are not going to get a true feel for the speed being done. It doesn't look like they are doing 150 in this video and suspect the speedo in the car had been switched to kmph based on the way speed was picked up.

Indeedy, wonder if its a case of "locals" being in excess of 100+ but then tourists from neighboring countries creating the significant speed differential traveling at much lower speeds. Either way, always fun having a blast when it's legal. Something a bit surreal legally overtaking a line of police cars at significant speed:

fantastic little vid with the sound effects, dodgy CD playing mind you! Think I recognise that run, I made it once in 14 parsecs

I've never found unrestricted autobahns to be 'dangerous'. Everyone seems to drive at the speed at which they feel comfortable, mostly about 90 mph. A few do more, but lane discipline is good as is general driver education. Largely, it's all about education, the biggest problem on most roads anywhere is the higher number of bad drivers from dumbed down countries with low speed limits.
