Hi guys,

Need to upgrade my sound system, and want to finally see what all the fuss is about with the Sonos gear.

Initially I'm looking to replace my 5:1 to setup. (A fairly disappointing Harman Kardon system)

But I'm happy to build up slowly, so initially is a soundbar plus two rear play 1s a good idea? Then add the sub at a later date?

Also, for the bedroom/lounge are the play 3s the best as an all-rounder?

I'm in dubai and unfortunately there are very few suppliers, so it's hard to get a proper demo, so I'd like to hear what setup the majority of you are using.

Cheers

Yes, 5.1 is Playbar, Sub and two 1/3/5s. I guess most people go for Play 1s. This is a very impressive system, as well as being neat and wire free. This would be the main advantage to most people because at £1,500 you'd be able to get a technically superior AVR and 5.1 speaker set up and a bit of change if you were happy with the extra box and wires.

As for standalone speakers, I'd stretch to the Play 5 if funds allow. It is a really big step up from the Play 3 for me.

Thanks, useful info...

I think I'll do the soundbar and 2 play 1s initially, then add a play 3/5 in next month... Then the sub.

Play 1s work really well as a stereo pair or can be grouped to give more flexibility of volume & tone.

New 5 adjust to being vertical or horizontal and has wired input should you want to play from an external source without making if talk to SONOS wi-fi using the Bridge.

Choice depends on size of the room hence volume required.

From my experience, get the sub as soon as you can afford it.

With just a playbar and 2 x play 1s you will soon realise there's no 'depth' to the sound, the sub really does make a huge difference.

Not sure If anyone else would agree but it's just my experience.
