Last week after I got a little too enthusiastic with my getaway from the lights (2 lanes into 1 with a bus lane)in the misses tuned cooper S (with loud JCW exhaust), 1/4 mile down the road I spotted a traffic car "making progress" with it all blaring from behind in the mirrors, my first reaction....F**K, misses first reaction hahahahah.
I promptly pulled into a side road, and was followed, I was prepared for the worst and adjusted my jeans ready....
The 2 officers pulled along side of me and first said they were expecting some heap of a Corsa with that noise, secondly "watch how I pull away from lights in future", and thirdly....."nice car, watch your speed"
I'm sure being in my 40's and right attitude helped (and a PH smiley on the back hahah), but to be honest I was being a hoon and deserved the tug, but nice to see some positive policing not shouty types who hate modified cars.

It's stuff like this that restores a little faith in common sense policing.

I once had similar in Scotland & respected the quiet words more than I would have respected a ticket.

yes Likewise, getting pulled in my Elise (with Larini), middle of summer, sunglasses on and roof off on a busy London highstreet boxedin It worked though, I'm more considered with my use of the loud pedal now tongue out In my defence, he was in an unmarked car though frown

Have had courtesy flashes from unmarked cars a few times when in the BMW and VXR8. In the corsa they tend to pull and then let me on my way after a stern word smile

Was running the GT4 in and let a grey BMW out to overtake a lorry, thanked with a little burst of red lights on the parcel shelf! Glad I was running it in...

I've had exactly the same. Pulled away at speed to get onto a traffic light controlled island to jump the queue in an e46. I know, I shouldn't have done it, very irresponsible.
There was a white unmarked BMW 3 Series behind me that I hadn't clocked was old bill and they followed me down a side road and pulled me over.
I was expecting the 3rd degree in the back of their car for at least 20 minutes but they just pulled up alongside, dropped the window to give me a flea in my ear, I promised to be more careful in future, and they were gone.
It was quite refreshing to be dealt with like that and it does make me think twice before attempting any daring maneuvers.

There are still some good ones out there. I was having a bit of fun with an SL55 a while ago in the TVR when the rear view mirror lit up. I pulled across to the nearside lane (3 lane part of A13 if you know it) and a grey 3 series pulled up beside me, quick stare and grin from driver with a wagging finger from passenger and they pulled away.

I expect if the same driver or passenger ever saw me again I would get a ticket, and deserve it hehe

Back in 2008-9 i did the same in my then few year old Civic Type-R, i was little quick off the line when the lights went green. I hadn't noticed the traffic car parked at another entrance to the junction....

..He pulled up along side me and asked me to pull over further along the road... yikes.

Anyway he got out and wandered over and asked if i had seen him, "no". Then he asked if i had seen the women with the pram waiting to cross the road, "i did" was my reply.

"Ok, please can you leave the quick driving to NSL roads. Off you go"

I was being a little silly and i got told off.

Brings back memories of hooning it as a youth in my 8v Golf GTI with its "modified" exhaust. Sat at the lights ready to sprint off... Green, I floor it for about 200 yards and straight away blue light and sirens..

Pulled over and the traffic cop said "its 30mph here, do you know that" "yes" I replied, obviously thinking im about to get it big time.

Proceeded to give me a bking about racing from the lights, and that the only time I could floor it was in an NSL as long as I stuck to the limit. Told me to use my head more and stop showing off and if he caught me doing it again he would throw the book at me.

Can still remember his name,
