Just looking through the classifieds and wondered if anyone knows the history of this car?
Sorry if its been covered before but it seems good value compared to other 7.1 RS' on the market.

Is it just priced to sell?

If it is the orange one make sure you carefully check the history

Advert states it's been re-shelled.

It is the re-shelled car so no it's not a bargain at £115k at all, I'm sure that changed hands for under £60k a couple of years ago and that was considered expensive at the time for a re-shelled car.

Imagine trying to sell that back to a dealer on a dark stormy night!

Love the car - I think that is the one I saw at a Radical dealer (or similar) about 18 months ago - market has moved away from me since then unfortunately

How many of these have been re-shelled?

The one in the following link was re-shelled outside of the main dealer network, and sold to a PH member here, without disclosure of the re-shell.. Circa 2009-2010 IIRC

Do a search if the search function works..

Is a re-shelled car not a better bet than a heavily smashed / repaired car ? .....its not my bag and its a shame the car is tarnished with such a tail of woe plastered over the net. Thanks to internet / phone cameras / forums etc a damaged RS has no hiding place !!

If all the damaged parts were replaced, then objectively, yes you could say it is better. It still carries the stigma though and many people will just not see past this; a bit like the 100,000mile reading on a speedo, Somehow a car magically becomes worthless at this point.
At £115k it does seem good value compared to the current mean price of £155k for a 7.1RS.

Was told the owner crashed it on track but was not insured so sent it to Porsche to fix. It's like new but still got that hanging over it!

IIRC it wasn't sent to Porsche to be fixed.
Also why does it have leather seats and not the 'Nomex' type ones?

If this is the same one that was for sale at a Scottish OPC about 5 years ago, the paintwork was very poor!

No doubt that's been sorted now, but it puts a question on the integrity of the re-shell.

Still, a thorough inspection will reveal the truth.

Too stained with something that's for sure!
