Frame lag in gta5

Ive just updated to the newest version of gta5 as i only got my ps4 last week, hoping to get rid of the drop in framerate driving fast through the city.
Nothing has changed on that front and it still drops to 18ish fps, so i can kind of still play but its really annoying.
Will there ever be a fix for this?? (PS4), if not is it the same online? I havent got online yet and i dont want to waste 40 pound on ps+ if it will have poor framerate when racing each other etc.
