What a classic that is, well both of them. They live in Spinal Tap's shadow, but they were first I believe?

Bad news 2 is even better (for a sequel). I love the Comic Strip series but it was topical and doesn't wash well these days.
Most the ideas from this were robbed for Spinal Tap,Colin Grigson RIP !!

I went to the Monsters of Rock at Donington they filmed the live sequence for in Bad News 2, never have I seen so many bottles/missiles/anything that wasn't bolted down thrown at a band. The sheer venom of the audience toward them was something to behold and to be fair to them they were far from the worst band that day.

Still really enjoy watching the Comic Strip

Serious sense of humour failure,you could see it on the episode ! Thing is Vim (Ade Edmondson) is a closet Metal fan. Can't have been easy for him.
I loved that series of Comic Strip,they were at their pinnacle. The Yob (their re-enactment of the Fly) was immense. Again of its time.

On that day it was Lemmy who had a sense of humour failure, the bottle fight continued after Bad News, Lemmy had had enough and let the crowd know, worst thing he could have done, the sky went black with plastic classic day, classic line up, nicely finished off by Ozzy.
Always remember Colin walking on stage "A man walked into the bank and said stick em up, so she selotaped his bks to the ceiling"

I was a session bass player for most of the 1980's and a good mate of Simon Brint (the guy with the earphone in 'Raw Sex'). This was because I shared a flat (and played in bands) with Roland Rivron - the other bloke in Raw Sex... yes he did like a drink! Simon wrote most of the music for Lenny Henry, French & Saunders, The Comic Strip etc etc - as well as ITV stuff like Londons Burning. So I played bass on most of it (all of it for about 6 years).. until I gave up playing to write and moved out of London in 1988.

Sadly Simon died a couple of years back. As did Rik (as I'm sure you know). The others are still going strong though, I see Ade is in War & Peace. He never would have believed that!

I bet you had a ball following the comic strip around. Read a bit and also saw a documentary about them,Peter Richardson I remember saying it was an absolute scream from start to finish. Plenty of drunken antics - and what about Keith Allen ? Was he as wild as he depicted ?

Spent all the time in recording studios, so only worked with those that were on musical numbers.. Mostly French, Saunders and Lenny Henry etc. Met Keith Allen once, seemed fairly normal, but I think he was hungover

We had a pool table set up in the flat and would play double or quits all night. First one to pass out lost all that they gained. Luckily, the other one wouldn't remember what happened the next day. Actually, neither of us did.

That must have been an experience! I can remember watching him play in 'Raw Sex' on TV - was it on Saturday Night Live?
