Hi folks,

I'm one of the small group of Aston owners who are DIY-ers when it comes to servicing their cars. I will shortly be doing my first service (40k) and, in preparation for this mighty endeavour, I have been doing a little research and am now getting a bit confused! It's not really hard to find out what type and how much engine oil is going to be required but I'm not 100% sure about some of the other fluids. For example, I've looked up the transmission and differential quantities and I see 2 figures quoted for each of these - ie capacity of the unit and also capacity of the cooling system... Are they combined to make up the total volume? In addition, I am surprised at the amounts eg transmission oil, 10 litres plus (?) a coolant volume of 1.6 litres. As much as the total engine oil capacity?

So to avoid the risk of a major ****-up I want to ask for your help. Can anyone quote me TOTAL volumes and fluid types (specs) for the following for a 2005 DB9 coupe with automatic transmission:-
Transmission oil (I've chosen to ignore the sealed for life notion)
Differential oil (Ditto)
Coolant fluid
And whilst I'm talking about fluids, the recommended brake fluid is??

Finally, onto pads. I will be using BG Stop Squeal on whichever pads I end up using, so that element of choice is irrelevant - I hope! I'm not a hard driver nor a track demon so ultimate braking ability is not paramount. Decent braking ability with good feel are the most important, then dust minimising and durability after that. What makes and types do the members here recommend? Other than Pagids...

PS sorry for making so many dumb posts of late but I want to keep my car for many years - unless I get an irresistible offer of a swap for a 1980's V8 in excellent condition! A guy can dream, can't he?

Cheers, and thanks in advance, Mark
