Can we please have an image uploading service that allows images larger than 2MB?

I ask because pretty much nothing I take on my iPhone is less than 2MB and it's bloody annoying when you're trying to stick a photo in a post?

Thank you smile

Yes, but the rest of us don't want to download a page filled with 2MB photos thanks very much.

Thanks for showing your complete lack of understanding as to how it works!

In the current system, the photograph you upload to Thumbsnap or similar is resized to at least 1 smaller size which is what's embedded in the forum and only is visible in it's entirety if you click on the image twice (if I remember correctly).

There's no reason the initial photo can't be bigger and then resized with a script to a suitable size for the forum.

I use ResizeMyPhotos to shrink any images I want to upload - it's a freebie and works really well on individual files, a batch of selected files or entire folders.

Also gets used a fair bit for low-res images I want to store - shrunk, these can be as little as ~70kB each as opposed to >4Mb.

Thanks for the suggestion. When I'm on my PC it's not an issue - it's when I'm trying to upload from my iPhone using the normal web browser skin.

That makes more sense. I hadn't realised that Thumbsnap resizes them.

Given that the current image upload is listed as "beta" and has been in place for at least a decade, I doubt it hehe

2016 will see some new and fundamental changes to improve the sites functionality and a new image/ video uploader is one of the main features that will take priority.
I can't give an exact date of its release I'm afraid but it will be coming to a PistonHeads Forum near you soon.

FYI if you weren't aware we had a meeting with The Board the other week and we will be releasing all points that we raised and discussed to the community shortly so you can all know what we have planned for the year ahead.
