Talking to someone at work today, apparently his ageing parents own and live on a farm where they used to rent out barn space for people to store and work on their cars. The guy at work is not any sort of Piston/Petrolhead; don't think he actually owns a car. Anyway, as we chatted, he said "yeah, last time I looked someone had left a Barracuda up there, plus loads of other stuff, been there years and the car owners haven't paid rent for ages, all seems abandoned".

Needless to say, having sat bolt upright at this disclosure, I have asked him very earnestly to write me a list of what's in there next time he visits! Probably come to nothing but I do like the idea of making an offer and turning up with some sort of transporter to liberate it all! Be interesting to know what else is there, at least; I guess there are still barns full of stuff hidden away here & there. Will report back if I get any more news.

A word of warning in that even if rent has not been paid and or the car may be abandoned does not mean the farm owner is entitled to sell it. "Finders keepers" is a common misconception!

Sure, well aware of that and if there's anything I need clearing up I'll just refer to one of the 4326 threads here on the same subject wink

Could you ask him if he knows the reg of the Cuda please?

My dad's cousin brought one over with him in the 70's. DVLA lists it as untaxed since 86 I believe. I tried to find out if it was around on here last year without any luck.

Only slightly OT, but who recorded that track and what was it called? My old boss asked me this nearly 20 years ago and I still don't have the answer.

I think you're right (all showing our age here!) and I believe it was actually used for a commercial for the car?

Very much this. These days especially, things can get pretty legal. See $14m ferrari currently in storage at southampton docks whilst its true owner is established...

Another word of warning. We were told by an elderly gent that he had a low mileage BSA Gold Star in his hallway that had been there since the 70s and wanted shot of. Same reaction, bolt upright and an appointment made to go and see it.

We still have the BSA Bantam that stood in his hallway. It's a very nice BSA Bantam, but not the BSA Gold Star that we were expecting to find hehe

I confess Simon that I do have a horrible suspicion that this will turn out to be the case. It'll end up being an AMC Pacer and the remains of a handful of Marinas and Avengers!
