Rear suspension arm

out of interest, is no rear ARB accepted wisdom, or just one person's opinion.
should we all be removing rear ARBs ?
I think that comes down to how (and where) you drive them. I can assure you that on track you lose an awful lot of traction without ARB on the rear. should we all be removing rear ARBs ?
I found out when I snapped a rear mount during a track day, the result was power slides out of every corner and serious tyre wear...but it was a bloody good fun way to go round corners slowly
(some Racers do disconnected them during wet track races to soften up the suspension). For road use I'm not sure what gains you get having ARB, given how rough our roads are you need a softer setup.
In Normal road driving I certainly could not tell the difference with them on or off, they are currently off as I needed to weld on stronger supports after the originals failed and they are waiting to be repainted.
TVR would not have gone to the bother of fitting them without good reason so I would say Bluebottle is quite correct and he has proved it.

Steve, definitely fit anti-roll bar brackets to your rear arms to keep your options open but beef them up because they bend when you jack up one side of the car. I agree with Jesfirth comment in this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... mainly because my local roads are rough, JesFirth must know a thing or two about driving http://www.tvrccspeedchampionship.co.uk/

Hmm, interesting. Jes won outright the TVRCC Speed Champs & I won the class B Speed Champs & we both don't run rear ARB's. I would suggest that it's down to set up.Also, as Jes says; it's a waist of weight.I found out when I snapped a rear mount during a track day, the result was power slides out of every corner and serious tyre wear...but it was a bloody good fun way to go round corners slowly

I have a full set, blasted, that you can borrow as I bought a new set for my rebuild. Problem is I am in Pangbourne, west of Reading. If you are interested then I will let you wrestle with the logistics. E-mail me and we can have a think how to get the arms(s) to you. Pete
Thanks for all the replies , Mark Cosh has sent me some photos with a tape measure so I can proceed , yes it will be stronger :-) I need the ARB as will be pushing over 350 horses soon and the occasional sprint !
I will put some photos on here once I have made the brackets .
Thanks

Make sure they are straight....

Otherwise you will be twisting everything to get them in and the upright set.....
I have the jig if you need it
and if thats of interest.. this may be also http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
