Getting the next level up of jobs
Discussion
I am currently searching for a new marketing role and my CV is good, I get 3-4 calls a week from recruitment agents and things are progressing well. I have had 3 interviews, one which I realised I had focused too much on detail in my answers and so failed that one, one which, half way through I decided I did not want and one I am waiting on currently, plus I have one next week too.
After some thought I wonder if I am too senior for typical marketing manager roles now. The one I went to yesterday (with the rec agent, not the company) had a 'Marketing Manager' who had 2-3 years experience and the rec agent said I'd be easily the most experienced person in the team (as Digital Marketing Manager, working under a Marketing Director). Also, Marketing Managers I have met seem far less experienced and successful than me and so I am wondering if I need to pitch myself at Director level but how do I do that?
One thought was to change my job title for the last 2 years where I have been consulting to 'Director'(of the company I worked for (self employed) so that rec may put me forward for more senior jobs but I am not 100% sure...?
