Anyone ever owned a turbo bike?

Just see this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-Turbo-Hayabusa-520B...
Of course it would be fast, but a waste of time to try and ride/own?

I can't imagine what they're like to ride, but perhaps they're not as good as the idea suggests. There was that old track video of the bloke on the turbocharged R1 getting lapped relentlessly as he struggled to keep the front wheel down...perhaps they're more for novelty than anything else? A bloke I work with bought one a turbocharged Hayabusa to break 200mph on an airfield, and then flogged it without much difficulty, so the market for them is clearly there.

I'm building an R1 turbo at the moment.

There was a hayabusa turbo on eBay last week, not sure if it's still there but it looked like a nice one, I'm just not s fan of the way the hayabusa looks.
That's the same model I have - are you doing a build diary by any chance? I'd be interested There was a hayabusa turbo on eBay last week, not sure if it's still there but it looked like a nice one, I'm just not s fan of the way the hayabusa looks.

My next door neighbour has a couple of them. The dash/instruments are very "Knight Rider"!
Yes - One of the things I love about it - There is also a certain Turbo/Transmission whine which is unlike anything I have ever owned, oh and not forgetting the Turbo stalling when you back off too quickly! (Sounds like a Chirrupp from a Smart Car)I went out on the back of a turbo'd Busa years ago. Long swinging arm, it was sponsored by BigCC at the time and was doing very well for itself in the straight liners.
I have very distinct memories of being on the back as it wheelied through the industrial estate. The delivery was absolutely brutal. It took real talent to keep it in check. I made my peace with god for the ten minutes I was on the back of it.
I think anyone who owns one would always argue it's performance can still be used on the road as they've spent a great deal of time and money on it, but I'd really question how applicable it is in the real world.
Then again you could say the same about any bike really couldn't you?

I'm using a Garrett GT2860R turbo on stock internals and am expecting about 190-200 WHP at about 8lbs of boost.
I'm not extending the swingarm or anything at it spoils the look of the bike and throws the handling off. I don't see this as being a problem as a lot of modern sports bikes are putting out close to this amount of power.
