Hi folks,

My 1989 S2 has been off the road for months with an intermittently faulty oil pressure gauge. The (ex TVR) engineer checked the actual engine pressure with a separate tool, and it's ok. He thinks the sender is to blame. Cleaning it didn't fix the problem. Unable to find an S2 sender, he tried an S3 sender which fitted but it worked in reverse, top-down, so that was no good. He told me today that, despite trying all his TVR contacts and gauge guys, he is unable to find a sender which will work. Can anyone help?

The gauge is the original TVR item. It has no maker's name, but he thinks it was made by Smiths. On the back is a number - 18038.

As a last resort, I thought perhaps we could buy a new matching gauge/sender combo but remove the gauge innards and fit them into the original casing, also using the original needle & dial front, so it all looks original. Has anyone tried doing that?

Thanks for any suggestions,

BOB

This Gauge Wizard claims to work with any resistive sensor, even reversed reading. Give him a ring: he seems a nice guy.
