Amazon (Prime) purchase, no VAT charged.
Discussion
Just bought something off Amazon. It turned up on time through the Prime delivery service.
Went to print out the VAT reciept - there isn't one. Where there should be a VAT receipt, I have a page with the item description but no price or VAT listed and text at the bottom which says "Please note - this is not a VAT invoice".
I'm in the UK, payment was via a UK card and the delivery address is in the UK.
I can look up my order history which has a VAT breakdown and the item in question shows zero VAT against it. It is just the purchase price. The item in question definitely is subject to VAT if you went out and bought it off a high street shop.
The Amazon seller has over 300 positive ratings, seem to sell things in commercial quantities. They have an overseas telephone number and a UK postal address.
What do you think?
