After having gone through various Rolex including a few DSSD's, 16610/16610LV/114060 Subs and an Explorer 1, I'm back in the market for another. Out of my old ones, I loved the DSSD due to it's hewn from granite feel but felt it was a little too big for day to day wear. I also loved the 16610 but probably because it was rough and cheap so I wore it everyday without really caring about it.

When the new 116600 was relaxed, there was a big fanfare due to it being the first SD in a while. A friend has one and he says it's the best Rolex he's had. Anyone got one on here and what are your thoughts?

I have one and I love it. I also tried to get on with the DSSD but found it too big, so the DS just hits the sweet spot for me.

Its a great shout from the current crop as it ticks all the boxes, personally I like a clean dial so lack of cyclops is a result as is the Matte dial, all in all a great piece that will always satisfy

Absolutely worth it and I'm loving mine.

Went out to buy a new Tudor Black Bay Black (I have the red one) and just didn't think the Black had the same appeal as the red. At the same time I looked at a black Sub Date, Sea Dweller and Deep Sea. I"m not a fan of titanium watches so a Pelagos was already discounted.

First the Deep Sea but as alanm_3 said - it was also just too big for me. I really liked the black Sub but the Sea Dweller was just a bit different without the cyclops. The contracts of the matt dial with gloss bezel is lovely, The minute markings all around the bezel coupled with the symmetry of the dial markings make it a very attractive piece (to me at least).

I don't notice the weight - it does not feel much heavier - if at all - than a GMT, and only notice the raised glass when wearing a shirt with tighter cuffs.

Gratuitous picture. smile
