Porsche finally racing the 9A1 (?)

Sounds like Porsche have switched to a 'direct injection' engine for the new season. Could this be the 9A1? Maybe the 991RS engine?

Unless the Mezger can be Direct Injection, probably it is a 9A1 engine ...

There is no evidence of these engines being unreliable, even in race applications.

And maybe the GT4 Clubsport is just the start ...

When I was at Spa last year for the F1 I was very privileged to be treated to Porsche Hospitality which meant I was able to be in amongst the Carrera Cup teams. I was told that for the 2016 season that they would be using the 4ltr GT3RS engine. Seems to go quite well in my RS.

I must add that I thought that the F1 was really quite dreary and un dramatic whereas the 30 odd 911's that went blasting round the circuit were truly awesome to hear and behold. I positioned myself at the exit gate where they would chunter past then roar off up Eau Rouge, truly mind blowing!! I managed to video it all which I will try and post later.

What's in the GT4 - sure ain't no Mezger. There's going to be at least four of them racing in British GT this season.

Its a detuned version of the 9A1 991 Carrera S engine.
