Hi there I have a 10 plate scirocco TDI 170, it's on 73k n it's just developed a whining sound what looks like it's coming from the alternator belt n pulleys.....is this a common fault? I think it's coming from that area anyways. Any links to the kit al need to fix would be very much appreciated!

Cheers

Well good to hear - everyone else is leaving their better halves in cars with 2mm tread depth

Is it there at idle from start up?
Does it disappear when you Rev the car ?
Does it become louder at speed or when revved ?

It's probably the word 'and' trying to tell you it exists.

It gets louder when you rev.....could it be the alternator clutch pulley? its deffo coming from alternator, car is on 73k, surely it wont need a whole alternator like this mechanic told me today??
