I run two small businesses based in Northern Ireland with decent turnover, around 25 staff
I’m making the transition from carrying out my bookkeeping and payroll functions myself to employing a member of staff. I’m unsure as to how binding any Non Disclosure Agreements are and if anyone could point me towards a template.

During the selection process I’ve found someone that seems very sensible and as such I hope its not required but I like to hedge my bets!

Thanks in advance and feel free to move if there is a more appropriate section mods

In what part of the employment process do you need an NDA? I've not googled, but there must be loads on the net. They are all next to useless I reckon. What are you realistically needing to protect?

Nice try Bert(2), but as he's talking about a prospective employee's NDA, I doubt he'll tell you on here biggrin
I'd be suggesting paying for insured advice from a employment contract solicitor if you have IP that you need to protect. Could it be covered by a non compete clause instead?

I'm really just trying to hedge my bets a bit as I'm unsure of the validity of any of these clauses.

Simple enough business model involving import and retail of specialist products. Only a few similar businesses in Northern Ireland but loads in mainland gb. If I'm entirely honest I'm simply looking for a bell and braces type approach to enable disciplinary processes if they start spiking the beans down the pub (not that I get the feeling they will).

If they do spill the beans sack them, other than that the prospect of ever getting any recompense is next to nil, they are all pretty much worthless, however you may want to put something in place that prevents them going to work directly to a competitor

I agree, I would be more worried about non-compete than an NDA.

Sharing company secrets whilst employed is pretty easy - misconduct.

See a lawyer, you need indemnified advice.
