I've had the Origin version of Steam for years. All the games I have below were free, either in deals or on the house freebies which seems to be most of what the access paid thing has, some others I just haven't bothered with. How odd.

I have Origin, but its rarely used and always begrudgingly. There are a couple of games I have that can only be played through Origin, and that is the only time I use it. Its the same with UPlay. I don't know why I don't like either of these as they are doing very similar things to Steam, but whereas Steam feels like a warm comfortable blanket, UPlay and Origin feel like those coarse itchy blankets that you hate but sometimes have to use.
I think Steam is just so prevalent now that its become the norm, and these propitiatory "imitations" drag you away from Steam and are just another piece of software that you have to install in order to access games.

Same here uPlay and Origin, but I'll tell you why you very rarely use them because it's bound to be the same as me. Every time you start it, it updates and takes ages to download and update itself before you even start a game. Then the desire to play the game disappears and you go back to steam.FourWheelDrift said:

You're right, nearly every time I open Origin it sits updating itself first but I always put that down to the fact that because I rarely use it the odd update it gets is just sat there waiting for me to start the program up.FourWheelDrift said:

This.
Steam are a retailer and there is no point in denying it. That said, they genuinely seem to want you to come in and join the community and have put massive effort into making on-line gaming easy and fun. I love steam, they haver their faults bu 11/10 for effort.
Battle.net, Origin and Uplay can bite my fat ginger arse.
