Planning income from Adsense and advertising?
Discussion
This is a little side project but I am looking at setting up a website that will use advertising to generate income (in time there will be other income streams but one step at a time...) How do I estimate / find out what amount of traffic generates what amount of income? I am looking for, at the very least, a ball park figure / guide.
The only way to tell, TBH, is to get your website up and put the Adsense code on it for a few months.
There are too many variables, and they have such a wide range, as Tuna summarizes :-
- Are your advertisers selling paperclips or apartments in Hyde Park?
- Are your visitors ready to buy, right now, or have they not yet decided whether they even need a paperclip or a Porsche?
- Is your content "clickbait" to boost your stats, or is it laser-targeted to Lithuanian Osteopaths looking to buy a clinic in Notting Hill?
With Adsense your CTR could happily be anywhere from 0.01% to 5%, and your CPC anything from 1p to many tens of pounds.
The Adwords tools may give you an idea of what it would cost you to advertise elsewhere, but that takes no account of the content or audience of your site - which have a massive effect.
Try it and see; it really is the only way you'll find out for sure.

Pence if that. Everyone uses ad blockers these days which has made ad generated income redundant.Gassing Station | Business | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
