From a marketing email I just got.......
Canon bod said:

Canon has announced a new entry-level digital SLR - the EOS 350D. It has

an 8-megapixel sensor, 3 fps shooting speed and a burst rate of 14

frames (Large JPEG).

The camera is a replacement for the EOS 300D, but many of its features

are closer to the EOS 20D. It uses Canon's DIGIC II processor, which

offers improved performance in many areas. And unlike the 300D, the new

model offers user-selectable options for AF and metering in the creative

zone modes.

The UK suggested retail price of the EOS 350 (body only) is £749.99. The

camera will also be available in kit form with the EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6

lens at £799.99, and with the EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 and EF-S 55-200mm

f4-5.6 II lenses at £1029.99. Availability is expected to be April 2005.

Primary difference between it and the 20D is...
Different sensor (8 not 8.2 mps)
Plastic body
Lower FPS
Build quality

Rumoured price is $899 which, if it meets normal Canon quality, makes it a bargain.

It will be interesting to see what the competition do -PMA is very close so may be we will hear something.

That depends though - $899 wont equal £483+Vat you can be sure of that - that would place it at £567!

We'll get screwed as we do with everything else and it'll be seven or eight hundred pounds over here.

Sounds like importing it and taking a hit on VAT will still save you nearly 200 notes. It would be tempting if I hadn't already got a D70!
