996 GT3 gearing
Discussion
As per the other thread.
The physical gear ratios (gear and final drive) on the GT4 are shorter than the 996.2 GT3 in all gears but 1st.
However, the issue the GT4 has is that when combined with its big wheel, it ends up losing out. For the same RPM, the GT4 requires greater mph (or kph) in each of the 6 gears. In 5th and 6th the difference is small, but in the other gears it is much more significant.
This relationship can get lost in comparisons using max RPM for each car such as above due to the different RPMs available.
