Hi,

Having a few problems with my current postage broker so looking for a new broker/company to send large parcels with. They measure 140 x 22 x 77 CM and weigh approx 15kg.
Tried the usual sites and there all coming back at £40+.

At the moment I pay £15 with UPS but as the box is literally 2cm over there maximum size they have started adding charges and it's not worth it.

Any recommendation so I can open a new account ASAP?

Cheers

Could give Interlink a try we use them for work and we pay £6.95 per parcel up to 1mtr and 30Kg if we go over that its £30.06 per consignment up to 3mtrs

How many parcels per day are you talking about?

Just realised I never put parcels in the title!!

Not a great deal, around 20 per month so no where near enough for a proper account with a courier.

Ahh our prices are for sending 60+ a day! so they might differ a bit.

We use a company called The Despatch Bay (bit like Parcel2go) for our parcels. You have the choice of a couple of couriers but we use Parcelforce who we've had little issue with. It's under £7 per parcel for us. Maximum length 1.2m if you can get it under that? and up to 30kgs. Just seen the large parcel (up to 2.5m) is £24.95+vat

They also offer Yodel where you can have up to 1.5m parcels but a Maximum volume of 0.22 cubic metres for 7.35

Can refer you if you like biggrin

I will check them out shortly and see what they come back at. £30 is still a bit on the high side and I will struggle to get it under 1.2m.
The smallest would probably be 1.3 but we have boxes made up to 1.4 to use as well. Its a shame as it would bring our courier costs down a bit if possible. It seems we are just over the threshold.

Previously used Paisleyfreight (TNT is the courier) and we can send for £23 with them but due to there terrible attitude I would rather pay for elsewhere!!

Try TNT, they tend to carry larger parcels. We use Interlink (part of DPD) & get robbed blind if we send out a larger parcel, many couriers aren't keen on them.

That seems to be the problem.

Might have to bite the bullet and pay £30 until we can look at smaller boxes, although I dont think that will be possible.

Its a shame UPS have screwed it up for the sake of a few CM.

Could be worth trying Yodel if you can save a bit of space, you're at 0.23 cubic meters and they allow 0.22.

Just checked and the parcel is actually 73cm not 77cm if that makes any difference with them.
There prices are coming back quite cheap and offering saturday delivery is a positive as UPS have not been able to help with this before.

Only thing is that Yodel dont seem to have the best reputation do they? Personally not had any problems receiving parcels with them but heard they can be very slow with deliveries even if you choose next day?

I expect they are better than they were when they started. We don't use them any more due to slow deliveries, drivers not showing for collections etc but that was a couple of years ago when they started here. I'd like to think they have improved, they're still in business after all.

You can only try them and see how they get on. I expect a lot is branch dependent too.

XDP not reliable but they'll take big stuff and are cheap. Majority of top tier couriers don't want to take parcels over 1m in length.

Yodel really are terrible, I think a lot of their drivers are self employed & use their own vehicles, often cars.

With Yodel if it fits in a 1.6 Astra diesel you have Mrs Miggins dropping it off on the way to bingo, if its larger then they go out on vans with the "proper" stuff.

Come to think of it when I do have a parcel with Yodel its always a 70 odd year old women delivering it who does the rounds with her daughter in a beat up old Zafira so not ideal to be honest lol.

Don't complain about Yodel until you understand what it is they actually offer and how they work and what the retailer has paid for.....

They have 3 services under one roof. B2B (Yodel Network & Van delivery), B2C signed and non signed for and B2C non signed for. Most of what people receive on Yodel are from the major retailers who use the B2C service which is a compatible service to Hermes, car deliveries and paying sub £3 for small parcels and under £3.50 for larger on a 2/3 day service.

What 99% of the general public do not realize is that Yodels B2B service (can be used for home delivery bst costs more than B2C so most don't want to use it) has one of the highest delivery success rates and is one of the most reliable in the industry for a next day signed for service. Their on time delivery performance and overall service is greater than the fans favorite and the marketing machine that is the DPD Group.....who's service is not actually that good.

DPD hang around the 98.3%, Yodel is consistently around 98.8% on the B2B service. The likes of FedEx, UPS and DHL are all around 99.4%, but around 95% of their deliveries ate business address. UK Mail is around 98.2% and Royal Mail is around 94%.....
