Cancelling cheques

Just a quickie.

It been a long time since I dealt with cheques, but someone sent me 2 to repay me some money they owed.

They have been banked and cleared this morning.

My question is, could the low life still stop them and recall the money, or not?

Only if it turned out to have been obtained by criminal means (ie fraud) I think. I might be wrong though

I'd be surprised if they've been banked and cleared in the same day. Normally it takes 3-5 days depending on various different things however your bank are the best people to answer this for you.

There is still a risk of it being reversed for a couple of days after showing cleared in your account.

Not banked today, they went in on Monday but are this morning showing as cleared funds.

I seem to recall 10 days from somewhere.

Cleared funds can still be swiped back.

Could still bounce on Tuesday 19th. By Wednesday 20th it's safe, unless it's a fraud case.
