Cyclocross in Essex/Suffolk
Discussion
Hey all,
I've had a cyclocross bike for a while now, but I've never really tried doing any actual cyclocross. From researching on the internet, I can't seem to find anywhere to just go and 'try' a cyclocross track, because they all seem to be temporary and only made for races. I don't really fancy going straight in for a race because I'm unfit as .... but would really like to give it a go.
Does anyone have any good locations do go in Essex/Suffolk to try this?

It's right at the end of the race season, no matter how unfit you are have a go, there will be someone of a similar fitness and ability so you will end up dicing with someone.
As for finding somewhere to ride a course most are on private land and as you mentioned temporary, just find a few bridleways and ride them or if you fancy futher afield thetford forest is cross bike friendly.

I know you said you're not looking to enter a race but...
The last race of the season for the Eastern league is on Sunday week in Ipswich. I'll be doing it as my first race, and I've no experience of riding a drop bar bike on muddy fields, bar a brief excursion round the New Forest on Wednesday when I picked up the (used) bike. I'll be starting at the back and fully expect to be left standing by everyone else, but it'll be fun just finding out what it's like to ride a cross course first hand.
There'll also be a well CX-seasoned PHer there, Pembo, so there'd be support and sage advice on hand if you wanted to give it a go as well.
