Okay, forgive my ignorance as regards Flickr, as I`ve not been using it long. My query is as follows:

When I browse this photography part of the forum (frequently) I come across some absolutely amazing shots, posted by many of you, via Flickr. I duly click on the image, taking me to the Flickr page, only to find that when I click on the little "zoom in" icon, some of you - very disappointingly I may add - choose to leave your pics the same size as the link you have posted.

Please don`t get me wrong here, I`m not criticising anyone at all for this, just wondering why you choose to leave a fantastic pic at its smaller size, when surely you have posted it up for everyone to enjoy ? I know that I certainly enjoy viewing these images in all their glory/original size, and it`s just deflating to click on it only to find that the size remains the same (there`s a song in there somewhere - Led Zeppelin LOL).

I take it, then, that this is done to stop someone stealing your work; ie: downloading it at its original size, or something ? Please enlighten me, as it`s been something puzzling me for a while now...

Edit: I should have said, I do get the required zoom on some images, so it`s not my settings etc...cheers.

Almost certainly. Once it's on the internet it's gone.

Usually its this, though I do have them a bit larger on flickr than what I post here (because PH shrinks them to fit anyway) - generally I upload to flickr (or farcebook) at 1200px wide.

Smaller images also make for more convenient file sizes instead of uploading a bunch of 5mb+ images.

Ah right - noted gents - and thanks for your replies, I presumed it was that, so cheers.

Unfortunately, I`m not yet (if ever) at the stage where someone would want to pinch any of my pics, but there`s always hope ! biggrin
