Wilks Restaurant - very special...

Prego - good value, great wine bar opposite

Walk her up Brandon Hill and top of Brandon Tower for amazing views of the city.

Suspension bridge and a wander round Clifton village. Perhaps a drink on the avon gorge hotel terrace if weather is nice.

Walk through Queen Square and catch ferry from centre to SS Great Britain, drink on the Grain Barge.

Museum occupies a lovely build with nice Gallery.

Cheltenham Rd and Gloucester Rd are both lively of an evening if Clifton is too stuffy for your tastes. Tobacco Factory also good.

Avoid Corn St and Millennium Sq by night unless stag dos and slappers are your thing.

Check what's on at Colston Hall and Bristol Old Vic.

Only truely nice hotel I can think of in the centre is the Du Vin so hope you are in there.

30th Jan is Bristol cider festival, so get cidered up.

There's a good graffiti walk you can join, the guy takes you to the banksy stuff with there stories but the really good stuff is up stokes croft.

What sort of music are you into , see who's playing.

If you want to impress the Mrs I'd Stay up Clifton though.

The Cabot Tower is nice.

There are a lot of good restaurants, one I particularly enjoy is the. Mezze Palace Lenanese on Small Street. Graze Chop House on Queens Square is also very good.

As someone else said, go round SS Great Britain and marvel that people crossed the Atlantic in it, and what a technological marvel it was for its day. Then go to the Clifton suspension bridge, and marvel at what a fantastic piece of engineering it is. Then consider that both were designed by the same man.

Then go to the Coronation Tap and get absolutely out of your box on Taunton Exhibition.

We've done most of the above on various trips to Brizzle, can recommend them all. We ate at Hole in the Wall last time following a recomendation on here, was very good but that was a year or two ago. Never been to the Zoo but notice that nobody has suggested it either.

As said, avoid the City centre of a weekend evening, gets a bit rowdy.

The Hole in the Wall is a remarkably average boozer with nothing at all to recommend about it.

Across the road is the River Station which is exceptional and MudDock Cafe which is a lovely spot for a bite or drink.
