Tonight around 18.30 I passed a scamera van on the A90 between Perth and Dundee. This is the first time I have seen one of these operating during the hours of darkness. Is this a new phenomenon?

They're often out at night around Dundee, I thought they had me tail end of 2014 but nothing came of it, but see them sitting out just about every trip now.

It seemed strange that it was operating where there is no street lighting.

I've seen it by Inchture going east quite a few times recently at night, but there are streetlights there.

Why 'now'? Is there some new 'anti dazzle' tech in play? Have seen a few recently too.

I have seen a van out at night. It's good to know that, despite all the horrors of the world, we are being kept safe... rolleyes

Regularly see them up until around 9.30pm in South Wales (Particularly Rhondda Cynon Taff area).

Yep, there's a semi residential feeder road off the M4 at Swansea where there is one regularly parked up at night. Easy to creep over the limit where the van sits as you go downhill.

You mean "Easy to put children at risk"? Perhaps you shouldn't be driving if you find it so difficult to avoid breaking the law and endangering other road users? I would fully support the government obtaining your details from your ISP and permanently revoking your licence. It's not enough for you to tear about the place morning noon and night, you also have to boast about it where you believe that you are anonymous, and never mind if the loved ones of those who have been mown down by speeding drivers are reading.

SMH at the continued selfishness and "me me me" attitude on display in this forum. Speeding is banned in every country because it KILLS PEOPLE (and I do hope no-one will be offensive enough to the aforementioned loved ones to challenge that assertion, which is tragically proven all over again every single day). If you can't even put aside your own convenience for something which is literally life and death, then when exactly do you put it aside?

Instead of trying to find loopholes, I suppose you could always try, ooh, I don't know, sticking to the speed limit. I am FED UP with people's refusal to take responsibility for their reckless actions.

I don't know why threads like these are allowed. No-one should care where safety camera vans are if they are following the rules of the road and driving safely. Do the owners of this site wish to encourage lawbreaking and road KSIs?

Wow, just wow, I'm not sure if you're serious, or whether I'm gone a get a large whoosh parrot shortly! If you don't like what you find on this site, don't frequent it, certainly don't bother replying. If you are going to reply, at least do so in the style of an educated adult, and not a petulant child.

No, you're thinking of fixed speed cameras.
