Hi All,

So over the years I have taken many cars through the Channel Tunnel without any clearance issues.

I have noticed recently that my V12V is grounding out on things that my other cars didn't (especially those rubber sleeping-policemen) - which goes to confirm this car is much lower.

My question is - have any V12V owners taken their car into Europe through the Channel-Tunnel and had any clearance issues driving on/off the train ?

yep, many times. stay on the ground level (they normally put all sports cars on that level anyway) and go slowly and carefully. width/wheels is far more of an issue than ground clearance on the chunnel, which I've never found an issue. if you are really worried, book with a roof rack (even though you won't have one0 and they will class you as a high vehicle and put you on the coach section, which is far wider and single level. It's no extra cost. But the benefit of that coach is again, width/wheel protection, not ground clearance

have a great trip !

Yes as jonby says no problem. I booked for a high vehicle so you go in the carriages that are wider so no damaging your wheels.

Width is the issue on the double deckers. The aluminium kerbing is ribbed and unforgiving. I think no more than 75mm either side on my V8V coupe.

Never had any issues and done quite a few trips now. Quite a few people ask to go with the taller vehicles when booking as this avoids the width problem with the guide rails.

As the others say book over-height, I've just booked for this year. A couple of points, go to the first booth where you type in your code as at the manned booths they have automatically tried to put me with the normal cars until I pointed out the booking. Also when you get to the final check they may try to divert you again but just say its the wheels and then they just wave you through.
