If this has been discussed before, please link me to it as the search function isn't showing up anything obvious.

Selling old car and buying new car on the same day - will probably be transferring the same policy to the new car.

Is there a cheap/free way to be insured on both cars on the same day? Insurance company has a 28-day minimum agreement on 2nd cars, so will cost £75 even though we only need it for a day. Or do you generally get a day's overlap anyway?

Trying to avoid dropping off the old car, and then having to walk to pick up the new one. smile

Speak to your insurance broker / company?
Mine covered both cars for a 24 hour period at nothing more than the increased premium for the rest of the term.

Shame Loon isn't here, but let me fill in meantime:

Oh no, not another 'I want to know about insurance thread,' tut... try the search thread next time.

Oh, you want 'cheap' insurance do you? We don't work for nothing you t**t.

Why can't you walk, use your legs (and if you don't have any I don't care).

Just pick up the phone and ask your insurance provider to cover both cars, not difficult is it!!!

Anyway, you wont hear from me for a while...I'm working with Trump's PR team.

Miss him really biglaugh

If the cost is £75 from your insurance company, why don't you try one of the many day insure temp insurance peeps online for the cost of one day?

Thanks, hadn't heard of one-day insurance so checked that out, but when I mentioned it the existing insurance company will also cover the transfer day (had originally asked about cover while we sold it hence why they quoted the 28 day minimum).

Thats a hefty charge but if thats their rules so be it

Some insurers (Zurich ) allow 14 days free pending sale of the old car. But they might not be competitive for you.

It can often be swings and roundabouts

Sounds like a good result. But just sometimes I do wonder. You asked for cover for the period of selling (28 days) and then think it's expensive for one day, when they actually will cover you for the cost of one day?

That Ferrari insurance quote I got was really expensive. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to insure my mini for a year?

Just light hearted leg pulling there OP biggrin

Cheap shot.

Seem to remember he was banned by people complaining about very little. What value does your post add to the thread?

The answer is that all insurers will allow an overlap on the day you're swapping cars as already posted.
