Do you mean this kind of thing, No. 5 ............ ?That picture is from a TR6 parts book, I can recall similar things on older Fords (my Haynes '72-'74 Consul/Granada manual shows them) but can't see them in a Sierra parts book so may be Ford didn't fit them by then?
Guess it wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate, or modify something from another car

I had metal rear disk protectors on some old Triumphs, but cant see the point in them - They only seemed to trap stones and damage the disk more
On a related subject, if you are thinking about the plastic covers that go between the disk and the wheel to reduce dust on the wheel, don't either...had to remove mine a the bottom of an Italian Alp after they got too hot and started to melt...
